How much I love you!
Comparing my love to
infinite stars shall be offensive, and
to the depths of the ocean, nauseating
The sun is too bright
hot and furious, the Moon
too cold and insensitive
to the emotions of the waves
that lash and cry beneath
So I shall not use
these much used equivalences
I love you more than
the person I set my heart on
last year, which was ten-times
the one the year before
When I was 8, I loved
Leonardo Dicaprio
and sung till my breath
went on, paeans to his beauty
in my squeaky voice;
till I turned 10 and my
idea of love changed
like a geometric progression
each year, one-sided
but growing a steady pace
Now that I have found you
and if I don’t get you
the world with all its bounty
the oceans, the islands,
emeralds and corals;
will not be consumed by a volcano
nor a deadly meteor hit a fatal shot
through the Earth’s skin.
But I will cry,
perhaps, for a day or two and,
probably I’ll blow my nose too
But that’s it-
and then the love song would continue.
